The Óbidos City Council established a partnership with the Portugal Mozambique Chamber of Commerce to create a new literary prize.
The Lusophone Literary Prize will aim to stimulate the production of literary works in the language of Camões, bringing new and talented writers to the fore. It will reward the best, showing the literary and cultural relevance of the territories that make up this Community.
The Óbidos City Council, through the Óbidos Vila Literária Office, has developed an assertive work in the area of language and literature promotion, having promoted participation in the literary events of Óbidos by writers from almost all Portuguese speaking countries.
According to the Mayor of Óbidos, “the association of Óbidos with the Chamber of Commerce is a natural step. We are certain that present and future partnerships in this area will contribute to closer relations between Portuguese-speaking countries. In Óbidos, they will find a home and stage for their dissemination ”.
At this moment, the formal procedure for the elaboration of a specific Regulation was initiated, which will later be deliberated in meetings of the City Council and the Municipal Assembly and published in the Diário da República Jouirnal. It is expected that in 2021, we launch this competition.
