The Armando da Silva Carvalho Literary Prize is intended to award, on an annual basis, a work of poetry, written in Portuguese and whose first edition has been published in any Portuguese speaking country. It aims to promote the dissemination of culture, our literary heritage and contribute to the defense and enrichment of the Portuguese language. Its mission is also to honor a natural poet from the municipality of Óbidos.
Armando da Silva Carvalho (28 March 1938 – 1 June 2017) was a Portuguese poet and translator, born in Olho Marinho, in the municipality of Óbidos, where he developed a large part of his work, deserving of several awards.
